AAL is incorporated under the federal laws of Canada and is licensed as a mortgage administrator under Ontario’s Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders and Administrators Act, 2006, S.O. 2006, c. 29. AAL’s mortgage administrator license number is #12171.

FSCO is the former regulator for mortgage brokers and administrators in Ontario. In 2019, FSCO was replaced by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (or FSRA”), “an independent regulatory agency created to improve consumer and pension plan beneficiary protections in Ontario.”
As a mortgage administrator, AAL is permitted to manage mortgage investments on behalf of investors in accordance with the Mortgage Administrators Standards of Practice.
FSRA regulates the work of mortgage administrators like AAL including but not limited to the collection of borrower payments and the remittance of same to investors.
AAL is the Manager for Advanced Mortgage Investment Corporation (or “AMIC”).

Michael Hapke is the President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Advanced Mortgage Investment Corporation, Advanced Alternative Lending (“the manager”), Advanced Capital Corporation (“the agent”) and Mortgage Brokers City Inc., a brokerage which originates mortgage applications for the MIC. All of the companies are related and connected companies by virtue of common ownership and control.
Michael Hapke is one of the founding partners of the Advanced Group of Companies (or "AGC") and is the visionary behind the Mortgage Brokers Ottawa/City brand (or "MBCI"), Advanced Alternative Lending (or "AAL"), Advanced Capital Corporation (or "ACC"), and Advanced Mortgage Investment Corporation or ("AMIC"), setting the strategic direction of all four of the companies.
Before founding MBCI, Mike worked for TD Canada Trust for over 18 years and gained considerable management experience in retail banking, learning and development and mergers/acquisitions. Notably, Mike played an active role on the project management team responsible for overseeing one of Canada’s largest mergers between TD Bank and Canada Trust.
In 2003 he decided to pursue a career in the mortgage brokerage Industry. In 2005 he formed his own mortgage brokerage operation with Frank Napolitano. In 2008 the pair successfully merged Ottawa’s two largest mortgage brokerage firms to form the current Mortgage Brokers City Inc. which now has over 100 licensed brokers and agents and originates in excess of one billion dollars in mortgages on an annual basis.
As CEO of MBO/MBCI and the Advanced Group of Companies, Mike oversees the day to day operations while always remaining in tune with the real estate market, allowing him to identify both risks and opportunities.
Mike’s hands-on leadership approach keeps him involved at every level of the business, from legal and audit to investors and borrowers.
Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts (law/psychology) at Carlton University. He completed the Mortgage Agents’ Course via Seneca College in 2004 and earned his Accredited Mortgage Professional Designation in 2005. He acquired his Mortgage Brokers license in 2010 and continues to grow his industry knowledge each and every year through industry conferences and continuing education courses.
Mike is the Ultimate Designated Person for and is a registered dealing representative with ACC. (Check his registration here.) He completed the Canadian Securities Course in 1995.
Under his leadership, MBCI has been honoured with the Consumer’s Choice award in the “Mortgage Companies and Brokers” category for nine consecutive years.
Mike remains committed to community service and is actively involved with the Mortgage Brokers Ottawa charity committee. He also spends countless hours volunteering as a coach for his two sons’ hockey teams.

Jennifer Anderson has been connected with the leadership team of the Advanced Group of Companies since February 2008 when she joined MBCI as a licensed mortgage agent. Today, Jennifer’s responsibilities are divided between MBCI (a FSCO-licensed mortgage brokerage), AAL (a FSCO-licensed mortgage administrator), AMIC (an exempt market issuer and lender) and ACC (a registered exempt market dealer).
For MBCI, she provides support and administration services for four sales agents including preparation and submission of new mortgage applications to lenders, condition fulfillment, client servicing, general support and agent training. Also on behalf of MBCI and its agents, Jennifer acts as an alternative lending resource and private lending specialist, preparing and submitting files to non-bank and non-AAL direct private investors. This includes preparation and completion of statutory private lending documents to ensure compliance with FSCO regulations.
Since its launch in 2012, Jennifer has been responsible for all aspects of AAL’s direct private mortgage investment (DPMI) operations including underwriting, funding, payment administration, collections, renewals, tax account administration, and discharges. She is the company’s primary liaison with mortgage agents (internal/MBCI and external/non-MBCI), investors, borrowers, lawyers, and realtors in the DPMI channel. She is responsible for the compliant completion of statutory private lender disclosures as well as know-your-client (“KYC”) reviews and mortgage suitability assessments. In that capacity, her work touches on financial planning, investment advice and long term retirement planning in the private mortgage lending context.
Before joining MBCI and AAL, Jennifer spent twenty years with the Bank of Nova Scotia where she took increasingly responsible positions that culminated in her final role as a Financial Advisor. She earned her PFP designation with the bank in 2005.
Jennifer completed the Mortgage Agents’ Course in 2009. She earned her broker’s license in 2011. Jennifer also holds her broker’s license in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
Her work for MBCI is regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (license # M08006868). Jennifer is also a member of Mortgage Professionals Canada.
She is involved with philanthropy as a member of MBCI charity committee. The committee organizes and participates in fundraising activities in support of local charities including the Ottawa Food Bank and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Marvin Cajina is a Chartered Professional Accountant. He joined the Advanced Group of Companies in 2019.
Marvin serves as Director, Corporate Accounting, at Advanced Mortgage Investment Corporation, a high yielding investment option for sophisticated investors. He occupies the same role at Advanced Alternative Lending (a licensed mortgage administration company), Advanced Capital Corporation (a registered exempt market dealer) and Mortgage Brokers City Inc. (a licensed mortgage brokerage).
At Advanced, Marvin manages all accounting, audit and tax matters. He also leads the companies' IFRS compliance and implementation projects.
Previously, Marvin worked as a manager for Welch LLP in the Client Services Audit and Assurances department. He graduated with honors from University of Ottawa with a degree in Business Commerce Specialization in Accounting.

Daniel joined the Advanced Group of Companies in early 2019 as a member of the Sales Support Team for MBCI (a FSRAO-licensed mortgage brokerage).
In 2020 he joined Advanced Mortgage Investment Corporation (AMIC) to take over duties as the primary liaison for both internal (MBCI) and external (non-MBCI) mortgage agents. His role encompasses all aspects of the underwriting and fulfillment of AMIC mortgages, as well as representing AMIC to external partners to build and development business relationships. Dan closely monitors AMIC’s competitive position within the alternative lending marketplace.
Dan serves as the AMIC representative to the Eastern Ontario Lenders Association. He is a licensed Mortgage Agent through MBCI.
Born, raised and educated in the U.K., Dan enjoyed a successful career as a Mortgage Broker before emigrating to Canada to join his now wife, Sarah in Toronto, ON in 2016. Sarah’s work for the CHEO (Childrens Hospital of Eastern Ontario) brought them to Ottawa in 2018 and they enjoy the bustling lifestyle that comes of living in Byward Market.
